Bev Haley graduated from the University of Iowa with a BFA in Studio Art. Working in the arts field, she taught children's and college level ceramics and painting, worked was as a graphic artist and creative director for a local advertising agency, and owned a pottery and graphic arts business.
As a graphic artist she has worked on many educational projects for a local publisher and had the opportunity to design book covers, layout books, and design and maintain websites.
In 1999, Bev began working for the New Hanover County School System, in and around Wilmington, North Carolina, as a Technology Facilitator. She is based at Ogden Elementary School, training the incredible and enthusiastic staff to integrate technology into their curriculum and providing general technology support. She is also responsible for advising on Ogden's software and hardware purchases.
Bev has been a featured presenter on integrating technology into the curriculum, designing school websites, and using technology for staff development countywide as well as at the NCETC and NCAECT conferences.
In 2005, New Hanover County funded the building of a new school at the existing Ogden campus. Technology options were examined and a Mimio representative came to Ogden to demonstrate to the staff the Mimio Interactive System. When the new school opened 6 Mimio set ups were installed. The PTA also got involved and committed to putting Mimios in every classroom. Ogden now has 30 Mimio systems in daily use, which has been an exciting and exhilarating experience. The staff works together to create lessons and activities. They gather at least twice monthly at informal Mimio meetings coined the MSG (Mimio Support Group). During these meetings, ideas are shared and questions are answered. The Ogden teachers attended a day long Mimio workshop in August 2008 where Bev shared the knowledge that she gained through completing the Mimio Masters Program and the teachers created new, interactive lessons.
