Tricia has been teaching for 17 years in Louisiana's St. Landry Parish School District. She received her degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana
State University, and obtained additional certification in Special Education from the University of Louisiana. She later received an M.Ed. in Learning
and Technology from Western Governor's University. Currently she teaches third-grade math, science, and social studies at Grand Prairie Elementary School
in Washington, Louisiana; serves as a technology facilitator for her school; and is a technology trainer for her district. Her passion, she says, is
learning about and using new technology tools to enhance instruction.
Tricia has found Mimio to be a valuable tool for engaging learners through interactivity. Using Mimio has definitely changed the way she teaches,
and has helped her reach more learners through attractive and interesting visual presentations. She says she often wonders how she ever taught without it.
Tricia first learned about Mimio at the LACUE (Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators)
Conference in 2005. She says she immediately saw the benefits of using this technology with her students. She applied for and won a grant, which helped
her to purchase a Mimio Interactive and a projector. After using the Mimio system for a few months, she presented it to her district technology coordinator
and to school district personnel, who also saw its potential. Since that time she has worked tirelessly, and with considerable success, to get Mimio
Interactives in as many classrooms as possible in her district.
As a technology trainer, Tricia has conducted hundreds of professional development training sessions for teachers on how to use Mimio effectively in
the classroom, as well as on such topics as Web Page Design and software applications. Tricia completed the Mimio Masters program in 2008. She has also
served as a Mimio Content Specialist, and is now a Mimio Course Moderator for the Mimio Masters Beginners Course.
Tricia had the honor to present Mimio at NSTA (National Science Teachers Association) in New Orleans in
March 2009. She was also featured in two educational segments by a local television station, KDCG, on her use of Mimio in the classroom to engage students
in learning through interactivity. Recently, Tricia was selected to be a member of the Biltmore's Who's Who of Executive and Professional Individuals.
When she's not assisting others with technology integration, Tricia's interests include horseback riding, photography, and editing photos.
