DYMO/Mimio Awards 10 Jump Start Grants for Teaching Technology
Educators From Across the Nation Receive Free MimioClassroom™ products
Cambridge, MA. - Oct 18, 2011 - DYMO/Mimio announced today 10 schools from 9 states have been awarded “Jump Start” Grants from the interactive teaching technology provider. Teachers from Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Tennessee and West Virginia were selected from more than 150 applicants for DYMO/Mimio’s Jump Start Grant, which was the second in the series of DYMO/Mimio’s new grant program open to all K-12 educators.
The Jump Start Grant specifically required applicants to demonstrate how a school with technology needs could utilize DYMO/Mimio interactive teaching technology. Applicants responded with lesson plan samples, videos, research they had conducted – even poems – for a chance to win portions of the technology provider’s latest MimioClassroom™ suite.
“Each of the winning teachers exhibited unique approaches to creatively engage their students with interactive teaching technology,” said Magen McGahee, Leader of Federal Programs and District Initiatives. “They really took time to prove their need and developed ideas and plans on implementing the equipment beyond just the standard uses, showing passion for turning their classroom into an active learning environment.”
Winners will each receive a MimioTeach™ interactive system, which transforms any dry erase whiteboard into a fully-interactive whiteboard, a MimioPad™ wireless tablet that allows users to interact with their MimioTeach-enabled whiteboard from anywhere in the classroom, and a MimioView™ document camera, which features simple plug-and-play integration with the rest of the product suite. Each teacher will also receive an on-site product demonstration and a training session. For more information on grants from DYMO/Mimio visit www.mimio.com/grants.
