Mimio Interactive Whiteboard Awarded 2007 Award of Excellence by Technology & Learning Magazine
Mimio Named "One of the Best Education Offerings of 2007"
CAMBRIDGE, MA - October 30, 2007 - Newell Rubbermaid Office Products Group announced that the Mimio® interactive whiteboard system is the recipient of a 2007 Award of Excellence from Technology & Learning magazine. The Mimio Interactive + Capture with Studio v. 5.3 software and wireless upgrade kit was selected from over 120 entries as one of the best education offerings of the past year.
"This award reflects Mimio's commitment to serving the education community with the highest quality in education technology products," said Mel Jackson, general manager of Mimio . "It also validates Mimio's dedication to teachers and giving them the tools they need to engage students in interactive learning."
The Awards of Excellence program has been recognizing outstanding education technology curriculum products for the last quarter century. With a solid reputation in the industry as a longstanding, high quality program, the Awards of Excellence recognizes both "best of breed" and creative new products that help educators teach, train and manage with technology.
This year's winners were chosen by more than 30 educator-judges who test-drove over 120 entries, logging in many hours in computer labs at San Francisco Bay area schools. The products were also carefully screened by the Technology & Learning editorial team in several rounds of judging. Products are evaluated by at least two judges in four different areas - quality and effectiveness, ease of use, creative use of computer technology and suitability for use in an educational environment. The products are given an overall rating by the judges.
The Mimio solution is a portable system that when used with a data projector converts any standard dry erase whiteboard with a surface size of up to 4? x 8? into an interactive whiteboard. The Mimio Studio software provides a rich suite of interactive content creation, annotation and presentation tools, as well as a library of curriculum content galleries. The interactivity extends to all functions and applications used on the computer including on-the-board Handwriting Recognition. The system also digitally captures EXPO®dry erase marker notes written on the board (no projector required) permitting teachers to print, archive, email and post the notes to web pages or use Mimio Studio's offline Hand Recognition to convert previously captured board notes to text. The Mimio Wireless interface upgrade kit enables the Mimio activated whiteboard to communicate with the host computer simply and easily, with no special software settings and no special wireless configuration of the computer. A simple receiver plugged into any USB port of the computer enables high speed data transfer over a range of up to 33 feet.
